I present you this Red-Crested Cardinal (Paroaria coronata). I often saw this songbird myself in small groups. Unfortunately, it is a popular cage bird because of its melodic singing. Habitat: The bird lives in open grasslands with isolated trees and bushes, often near water, in southeastern Brazil, northern Argentina, Paraguay and southeastern Bolivia. Diet: seeds, fruits and vegetables (apples, pears, carrots) as well as insects. Size 18-20 cm, weight 23 kg.
Conservation status: Not endangered (LC = Least Concern)
